Dear Friend, I always love August because it means more time in Wake County! While Congress recently wrapped up a busy legislative summer session, I'm looking forward to spending time back home in North Carolina. From joining the "Ride to Decide" reproductive freedom bus tour to welcoming Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to Wake County, it was so great to kick off the month with a week full of meaningful conversations and important visits last week. I'm thrilled to share an update on everything happening in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.

Dear Friend,

I always love August because it means more time in Wake County!

Fighting for reproductive freedom

Women are fed up with politicians trying to dictate our health care decisions. That's why this week I joined the 'Ride to Decide' bus tour with local leaders and advocates to call for access to abortion care. In North Carolina and across the country, extreme Republicans have been pushing radical abortion bans that endanger the health and safety of women. In Congress, I will not stop fighting until every woman can access the health care she needs.

Welcoming Secretary Granholm to NC

North Carolina is leading the way in clean energy development -- from offshore wind to solar and more. It was great to welcome Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to Wake County and discuss how North Carolina is helping build a clean energy future. During Secretary Granholm's visit, the Department of Energy announced millions of federal dollars coming to North Carolina to help us reach our clean energy goals. We closed out the day by stopping by Trophy Brewing to discuss sustainable business practices that will help us build a better, brighter future.

Honoring former Congressman David Price

I can think of no one who has done more to advance safe, accessible transportation options in North Carolina than former Congressman David Price. So it felt only fitting that we had the chance to celebrate the renaming of an I-40/15-501 interchange in his honor. It was wonderful to join friends and leaders for the dedication ceremony.
