News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

I wanted to reach out to share a brief message before this Memorial Day.

This weekend, along with Americans across the country, we gather to recognize those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country in uniform. There is nothing we can ever do to bring back our fallen heroes. But we can and must care for our brave service members and veterans who have made it home and support their loving families who make their service possible.

Ahead of this Memorial Day, I attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to honor the courageous men and women who laid down their lives for our country.

In Congress, I pledge to always work across the aisle to support our brave service members and ensure veterans and their families have the resources they deserve. That’s why I fought to pass the PACT Act, the largest expansion of health benefits and resources for veterans in a generation. Today, I'm grateful to share that we recently passed a significant milestone — one million PACT Act claims for toxic-exposed veterans and their survivors have been approved by the Biden administration, delivering $5.7 billion in benefits to veterans and survivors across the country. If you are a veteran, you can still submit a claim by visiting VA.gov/PACT.

Ahead of this Memorial Day, I also introduced the bipartisan Camp Lejeune Justice Corrections Act with Congressman Greg Murphy to protect our veterans and their families who have been exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune.

While we have made historic progress under the PACT Act, Camp Lejeune veterans have encountered troubling financial, logistical, and legal barriers in pursuing long-overdue remedies. We owe it to these veterans to ensure that they can access justice. That’s why the Camp Lejeune Justice Corrections Act clarifies the right to jury trials, caps attorneys' fees, and expands jurisdiction to alleviate the backlog of cases.
