Dear Friend,

As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, I'm excited to share a fun spring tradition with you. The annual Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents and abilities of young people across Wake County.

2022 Congressional Art Competition

High school students in North Carolina’s Second District are invited to participate, and the winner of the competition will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year along with artwork from students in all 50 states.

Students can learn more about the art competition on my website by clicking here. Entries can include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated, and photographic art. Artwork entered must be two-dimensional and no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, not weighing more than 15 pounds. High school students in the Second District may submit up to two pieces per person.

Art submissions are due by 5:00 pm ET on Friday, April 22, 2022 and must be sent via email to Takira Coleman at takira.coleman@mail.house.gov. The winner will be announced at a reception during the first week of May. Artwork submitted to last year’s competition can be viewed here.

It’s critically important that we support arts education and provide outlets where our students can express their creativity. I look forward to seeing all of the incredible artwork Second District high schoolers submit, and I can’t wait to see a piece of our community in the halls of the Capitol.

If you have questions about the competition or need help with a federal agency, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office. My team is here to assist. You can send me an email through my website or call my Raleigh office at (919) 334-0840. For updates on my work on behalf of our community, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @RepDeborahRoss.

Very truly yours,

Deborah
