Dear Friend, As we wrap up the year, I want to share an update on my work in Congress over the past 12 months on behalf of the people of Wake County. Unfortunately, this year was marked by chaos and pain for many in our community caused by Donald Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress. But despite the unique challenges this year has brought, I’ve delivered real results and fought for North Carolina. News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

As we wrap up the year, I want to share an update on my work in Congress over the past 12 months on behalf of the people of Wake County. Unfortunately, this year was marked by chaos and pain for many in our community caused by Donald Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress. But despite the unique challenges this year has brought, I’ve delivered real results and fought for North Carolina.

Working for Wake County

I'm extremely proud of the work my office did this year for people in Wake County. I hosted or attended 178 community events – that’s nearly an event every other day! I also personally participated in over 260 meetings with constituents to discuss their views and concerns.

My office also hosted 6 town halls – more than any other member of the North Carolina delegation. Your priorities are my priorities, and I will always listen carefully to your thoughts about issues that matter to you and your loved ones.

$34 million in federal benefits returned

I’m proud to report that my office achieved a significant milestone this year. We have now delivered $34 million in benefits back to the community since I first came to Congress, with $12 million returned in 2025 alone. My team remains committed to doing everything we can to help the people of Wake County access resources and benefits from the federal government. Whether you need help claiming your veterans’ or Social Security benefits or requesting a delayed payment from the IRS, my office is always here to help.

Reversing Trump Policies that Hurt North Carolina

The Trump administration has repeatedly attacked North Carolina over the past year – undermining our rights, hurting our local economy, and slashing funding for programs and services that millions of North Carolinians rely on. However, I refused to accept these assaults on our state and worked to roll back harmful Trump policies using every tool at my disposal.

Through these efforts, I succeeded in restoring $8 million in federal support for Wake County public schools, restarted a prematurely-closed investigation into toxic chemicals at NC State's Poe Hall, and helped to revive the largest women's health study in the country.

Further, I supported bipartisan legislation to extend ACA tax credits to prevent 22 million Americans from seeing a sudden spike in their health care costs.

I continue to fight to preserve Medicaid expansion in North Carolina. Unfortunately, thanks to Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Law, 600,000 North Carolinians are now at risk of losing coverage and rural hospitals across our state are facing the threat of bankruptcy.

Fighting for North Carolina priorities

Despite the chaos and division in Washington, I was still able to get things done for North Carolina. For example, I was proud to see 3 of my bills signed into law in 2025. You can read more about these important pieces of legislation below

From fighting to protect FEMA, to working to expedite the delivery of badly-needed aid to Western North Carolina, I did everything I could in 2025 to ensure that our state can continue to rebuild after Hurricane Helene and is prepared to respond to other natural disasters in the future.

It’s an honor to represent Wake County in Congress. Please know that I will continue working hard to advocate for our community in Washington in the year ahead.
