Honoring Wake County Veterans

I had the honor of observing Veterans Day with some North Carolina veterans in Cary and Zebulon. Our veterans put their lives on the line to protect our country, and we owe them an immeasurable debt of gratitude. We strive to always honor the brave men and women who served our country and ensure they get the care and benefits they earned.

Ahead of Veterans Day, my office hosted a Veterans Briefing with Congressman David Price to provide an update on our work in Congress for the local veterans community. We also shared resources available to Wake County veterans. If you or a loved one ever needs help accessing veterans benefits, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my district office in Raleigh.

Supporting Women Small Business Owners

Wake County is home to outstanding women-owned businesses, startups, and more. I sat down with state Senator Sarah Crawford and women small business owners earlier this month to discuss how I can best represent them in Congress. I heard from these women about the resources and support they need as small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Celebrating Offshore Wind in North Carolina

In August, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law, including my provision to overturn the previous administration's moratorium on offshore wind leasing in North Carolina and other states in the Southeast. I had the chance to celebrate this exciting news in North Carolina with government officials and leaders in the offshore wind industry. Offshore wind energy will create jobs, spur economic growth, and ensure North Carolina can continue to lead the nation’s clean energy sector.

Documented Dreamers Roundtable

Last month, I hosted a roundtable with Documented Dreamers in North Carolina. These talented young people come to this country legally with their parents as dependents but age out of our broken immigration system when they turn 21. Documented Dreamers make important contributions to our economy and our country – here in the Research Triangle and beyond. They represent the best of America.

In Congress, I’m fighting for comprehensive immigration reform. It’s time to protect all of our Dreamers.

It was fantastic to meet with so many North Carolinians across Wake County during the past few weeks. I am excited to be back in Washington, DC to continue working for the people of North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.
