News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

April was a busy month in North Carolina. I spent the month traveling around Wake County, meeting with members of our community, and listening to the issues that matter most to you.

There’s no question that this is a challenging moment for our state and country. That’s why I want to share an update with you about how I'm working for our community

Telephone Town Hall

Thank you to everyone who attended my telephone town hall with Raleigh City Council Member Stormie Forte. We covered many topics, including Trump’s ongoing war of choice in Iran, gun violence prevention, affordable housing, and rising health care costs. No matter the topic, I want to hear from my constituents. Please be sure to subscribe to my newsletter and follow me on social media to receive an update when I host my next town hall.

Congressional Art Competition

My office’s annual Art Competition was a success, with a record 82 submissions from local high school students across Wake County! This year's winner, “Taste of Home in Carolina” by Champion Education Junior Lily Fang, will hang in the halls of the U.S. Capitol Building for the next year.

$1 Million to Restore Rocky Branch

Rocky Branch is an important waterway that has been affected by urban growth and infrastructure for decades, which have taken a toll over time. I announced over $1 million to restore Rocky Branch to its natural state alongside Raleigh city leaders. The project will manage stormwater, rebuild the natural habitat, and create a green space for people to enjoy in the heart of Raleigh.

Meeting with the Wendell Chamber of Commerce

I attended the Wendell Chamber of Commerce’s Elected Officials Reception at Wake Tech’s East Campus. This year, I am proud to have delivered over $1 million in federal funding for community projects that will invest in public safety in Wendell. As Eastern Wake continues to grow rapidly, I will work to bring back federal dollars that will bolster access to affordable housing, transportation, education, jobs, and more.

Visiting Alliance Medical Ministry

I met the dedicated staff of Alliance Medical Ministry who provide compassionate and quality healthcare to the uninsured in Raleigh. Unfortunately, thanks to drastic healthcare cuts in Donald Trump's Big Ugly Law, more individuals than ever are unable to access healthcare in North Carolina. AMM's work has never been more necessary and valuable to our community.

$ 2 Million for GoTriangle's Public Transportation Center with Rep. Foushee

Congresswoman Valerie Foushee and I announced $2 million in federal funds for the GoTriangle Mobility Hub, which will serve as a central point that connects and expands transportation options across the region. This investment will mean easier commutes to work, less congestion on our roads, and more ways to travel across the area.

Wake Youth Jazz Ensemble

I was delighted to see the Triangle Youth Music Jazz Ensemble at The Rialto Theater and was blown away by their talent. Following their performance, these young musicians traveled to New York City for a competition at Lincoln Center.

Honoring Astronaut Christina Koch

One of the highlights of the month was the opportunity to honor Astronaut and NC State grad Christina Koch on the floor of the House of Representatives after her successful Artemis II mission. As the first woman to complete a lunar orbit, she is an inspiration to so many young women in STEM and has made North Carolina extremely proud.
