Yesterday, the House finally passed a bipartisan bill to extend ACA Tax Credits for the next three years. Approximately 157,000 North Carolina residents are projected to lose coverage entirely if the credits are not renewed.
Passage of this legislation comes just after millions of Americans saw a significant increase in health care costs at the beginning of this year following expiration of the tax credits at the end of 2025. Congressional Republicans refused to work with Democrats last year to prevent this catastrophic health care crisis. While I am relieved that a few Republicans did the compassionate thing and voted to protect Americans’ health care, their actions led us directly to this moment. Lives are on the line with each day that Republicans block the extension of these tax credits.
There is still a long way to go to get this bill signed into law. I hope my Senate colleagues will recognize the urgency of this situation and approve this legislation as soon as possible. I am doing everything in my power to get this extension across the finish line and protect Americans' access to life-saving health care.
