Dear Friend, I recently wrapped up a wonderful week back home in Wake County, and I couldn't be more grateful for the insightful conversations and productive meetings I had with constituents and local leaders. From honoring our fallen heroes to announcing federal funding for a project in Apex, it was great to be in the heart of our community and hear firsthand from the people who make Wake County the best place to call home.  But before I share an update on my work, I want to hear your thoughts on a critically important issue — the right to contraception. Please take the brief survey below.

News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

I recently wrapped up a wonderful week back home in Wake County, and I couldn't be more grateful for the insightful conversations and productive meetings I had with constituents and local leaders.

Ahead of the anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut, extremists in the Senate blocked legislation to enshrine this fundamental right into federal law. Please know that I won't stop fighting to protect reproductive health care.

Visiting Raleigh National Cemetery

Our brave veterans put their lives on the line to serve our country, and they should always be treated with the utmost respect. After paying tribute to our fallen heroes during Memorial Day Weekend, I visited Raleigh National Cemetery with VA Secretary Denis McDonough.

During the visit, I highlighted our successful collaboration in the completion of structural improvements to address persistent drainage issues at the cemetery that had left the graves damaged or destroyed. Since coming to Congress, I've been advocating for these improvements, and I'm grateful to see that significant progress has been made. I'll keep working to ensure Raleigh National Cemetery remains a place of dignity and respect.

Announcing Federal Funding for infrastructure updates in Apex

Last week, I was excited to announce $1.9 million in funding for the Cash Corporate Sewer Interceptor in Apex that I secured with Congressman Wiley Nickel. This funding will make critical improvements and ensure the sewage system is more effective and efficient, reducing maintenance costs, and strengthening public health and safety. I fought to secure this funding to help Wake County build the 21st-century infrastructure needed to sustain our growing community.

Visiting the National Weather Service

While home in North Carolina, I also had the opportunity to stop by the Raleigh National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecasting Office and discuss my work on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. During hurricane season and all year-long, the NWS provides our community with important forecasting updates that keep our people and property safe during severe weather.

Attending the NC State Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein launch

NC State recently received a $30 million grant to establish the Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein. It was great to attend the launch of this groundbreaking center that will pioneer research in alternative proteins -- driving innovation, creating good-paying jobs, and supporting sustainable food solutions. During the visit, we discussed my work on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee to support innovative work like this. Developing alternative proteins will help feed our growing population while also preserving our environment for years to come.
