Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

While I am back in Washington this week, I always enjoy being back in Wake County. During the month of January, I had the chance to visit innovative small businesses, hear directly from constituents, and so much more.

My Week in Wake County

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

I joined community members in celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at events throughout Wake County. It was such an honor to join the 43rd Annual Triangle MLK Memorial March. This year, we honored Dr. King's legacy through action. We marched to show that we will always fight for a community where justice and equality prevail.

It was also wonderful to join local churches and community groups to commemorate the life of Dr. King through art and creative performance at the Friendship Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest. The theme was inspired by Dr. King's message: "True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.”

We must remain committed to building on the work of Dr. King and continue fighting to uphold the civil rights and liberties of all Americans.

Visiting the Boys & Girls Club in Brentwood

I got to hang out with some pretty cool kids at the Boys and Girls Club in Brentwood! From providing free nutritious meals to teaching computer lessons, the Boys and Girls Club provides critical services to children and young people across Wake County. I appreciated the tour and learning more about how I can support their work in Congress.

Rolesville Small Business Stops

It was great to stop by a few local businesses in Rolesville and meet with some of Wake County's small business owners and entrepreneurs. I stopped by SuzAnna's Antiques, Peak Boutique, and Creative Exchange. Wake County is home to so many innovative small businesses, and it's critical they have the resources and tools they need to succeed.

Announcing Federal Funding for Garner Senior Center

I fought to secure over $26 million in federal funding for over 15 projects across Wake County and in January, I had the chance to announce more than $500,000 for the Garner Senior Center. This funding will be used to make critical safety and accessibility improvements to the center’s facilities. I fought for this funding because I know it will have a real impact on the community of Garner and beyond.
