Dear Friend, This week, I headed back to Washington, D.C. for votes, but I wanted to take a moment to share what I have been up to in Wake County. From advocating for more affordable child care to meeting with constituents out in the community, it was a busy week in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.  But first, as I began my week in Washington, I celebrated the NC State Men's and Women's basketball teams’ historic seasons on the House floor. For the first time in NC State's history, both teams made it to the Final Four in the same year. I am incredibly proud to represent the Wolfpack and these phenomenal teams in Congress. Go Pack!

News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

This week, I headed back to Washington, D.C. for votes, but I wanted to take a moment to share what I have been up to in Wake County.

Go Pack!

Advocating for child care funding

Last month, Congress finally passed legislation to fully fund the government, which also included a $1 billion increase for affordable child care. However, many facilities in North Carolina and across the country are still facing a funding shortfall. That's why I hosted a roundtable with parents, leaders, and educators at Raleigh Nursery School to call for additional funding and for the permanent expansion of the Child Tax Credit. If the state legislature does not act soon, child care facilities could close, jeopardizing care for thousands of children and hurting families and businesses across North Carolina. I’ll keep fighting for solutions in Congress because investing in child care is an investment in the next generation.

Hosting a seniors roundtable

Last week, I also had the chance to hear firsthand from advocates and leaders about how I can best support our seniors in Congress. From increasing affordable housing to protecting Social Security and Medicare, I will always work in Congress to ensure our seniors have the resources they need to retire with dignity.

Attending the Science House's STEM resource fair

It was great to stop by the Science House STEM Resource Fair for students with disabilities at NC State. I'm grateful for programs like this one that remind us that science is for everyone and that talent and innovation know no boundaries. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, I'll keep working for policy solutions that help make STEM education more diverse and accessible to all.

Helping constituents with federal agencies

Since coming to Congress, one of my top priorities has always been to ensure everyone in Wake County can access the resources they are owed from the federal government. My district office in Raleigh helps Wake County residents secure backlogged Social Security checks, Veterans Affairs benefit claims, delayed Medicare benefits, and so much more. Read below to see what a Raleigh Veteran had to say about the service they received from my office:
