Dear Friend,

Last week, President Joe Biden signed into law a government funding package that includes historic investments in Wake County. I fought hard to secure $10.7 million in funding for 10 projects across our community that will make a real difference in the lives of Wake County residents. Read below to learn more about these exciting projects and how they will improve our area!

We must do more to address the rising cost of housing in Wake County. That's why I secured $2 million in funding for the CASA King's Ridge affordable housing project. This new apartment community will end homelessness for 100 families and individuals. Earlier this week, I joined my North Carolina colleague, Congressman David Price, to tour one of their model apartments.

Wake County Emergency Operations Center & DNA Lab

Wake County Government is also receiving $1.5 million -- for a new Emergency Operations Center and a new DNA Lab. The new Emergency Operations Center will ensure our county can respond to any emergency -- whether it's extreme weather or a public health crisis.

As investigators and prosecutors have relied on DNA more frequently in criminal cases, our state has struggled to process all this evidence, especially for survivors of sexual assault. Wake County will use this DNA Lab funding to purchase lab equipment to conduct complex DNA analyses in a timely manner. For survivors and those wrongfully accused of crimes, this investment has the potential to make a powerful difference in their cases and in their lives.
