Dear Friend,

From my town hall in Wake Forest to stops across Wake County, I had many opportunities to speak with North Carolinians about the issues they're facing, and what I can do to help. Together we will keep fighting for a stronger, fairer country.

Take a look at last week’s recap below.

Town Hall in Wake Forest

Thank you to everyone who came out to my town hall in Wake Forest.

I spoke about the threats North Carolina is facing from Washington, including the Republican budget plan that would take health care and food assistance away from millions of Americans. I also gave updates on restoring funding for women's health research and the investigation into toxic exposure at NC State's Poe Hall before answering questions from the audience. Your voice deserves to be heard, and it was my pleasure to speak with you directly.

Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter and follow me on social media to know when the next one will be.

Juneteenth in Garner and Shaw University

Juneteenth marks the day when the last enslaved Americans were finally free, years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It reminds us that we must always fight for justice and that this work didn't end with emancipation. I was honored to celebrate Juneteenth in Garner and at Shaw University.

Hosting a Medicaid Roundtable

Right now, Congressional Republicans are pushing a plan that would take health coverage away from 14 million Americans. That includes new moms, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Last week, I had the privilege of sitting down with health care workers, advocates, and patients for a roundtable on the future of Medicaid. They shared powerful stories about Medicaid and the difference it makes in the lives of so many North Carolinians, and I'm proud to carry those stories with me to Washington as I fight for our state.

John P. "Top" Greene African American Cultural Center and Park

On Sunday, I joined the South Park community to celebrate the renaming of the John P. "Top" Greene African American Cultural Center and Park.

The center will now include exhibits on Raleigh's Black history and will be a hub for cultural events, art, and education. It is a place where people of all ages can come together to learn about Raleigh history and live in community.

I look forward to visiting again soon.
