Dear Friend, I'm always grateful when I get to spend time home in Wake County. From hosting a roundtable on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to discussing workforce development and STEM education, it was a busy week, jam-packed with visits and meetings. I even had a chance to attend the Major League Cricket tournament in Morrisville. Wake County is quickly becoming a U.S. Cricket Capital! I'm excited to share a few updates with you on my time back home in Wake County.

News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

I'm always grateful when I get to spend time home in Wake County.

Holding an AI Roundtable Discussion

I enjoyed giving Congressman Ro Khanna a warm Wake County welcome this week as we hosted a roundtable discussion on the future of AI. With the rapidly evolving use of AI, it was great to have this opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders about the power of this technology. As a representative of the Research Triangle in Congress, I remain committed to supporting the science and innovation that have driven advancements in AI.

Visiting NC State University's Wilson College of Textiles

For over 120 years, NC State has been at the forefront of sustainable textile innovation and development. I had a great time visiting North Carolina State University’s Wilson College of Textiles to learn more about their amazing work researching and engineering fabrics. Wilson College is a global leader in the textile field and has over 150 contracts with industry partners and government agencies. I am proud to represent innovative research institutions like NC State and will continue to support their critical work in Congress.

Hosting a STEM workforce development roundtable

No better place to host a STEM workforce development roundtable than Wake Tech Community College! Here in Wake County, our community colleges, universities, and other educational institutions play a critical role in preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow. During a roundtable, it was great to hear from leaders and educational professionals about how we can make the transition from the classroom to the workforce as seamless as possible. We were honored to host Dr. Sudip Parikh CEO of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In Congress, I remain committed to supporting STEM education and workforce development to ensure North Carolina continues to be at the forefront of these innovative fields.

This week I also had the pleasure of presenting Sam Searcy, an Army veteran, with his Commendation Medal for outstanding service. After reaching out to my office for assistance accessing his benefits, the Army requested we also deliver his medal. Thank you again, Sam, for your service to our nation!
