Dear Friend,

Last month, I had the pleasure of spending time in Wake County meeting with constituents and hosting events in the community. While I continue to fight for North Carolina in Congress by pushing back against the chaos and unconstitutional actions of the Trump Administration, I wanted to share a brief update about what I was up to back home.

Speaking out against President Trump freezing federal funds

In response to President Trump's recent federal funding freeze, I hosted a press conference with Attorney General Jeff Jackson and leaders of organizations in our community to highlight the disastrous effect it would have on our state. I remain steadfast in my commitment to protect vital programs and funding, from Medicaid and Social Security to investments in science, research, health, and more.

The President does not have the right to take away funding for programs he doesn’t like on a whim. These investments were approved by Congress and are not optional – they are the law.

Securing Mail Delivery at Research Triangle Park

After years of hard work, it was exciting to be with local leaders and members of Research Triangle Park to announce that USPS has begun centralized mail delivery service for the over 375 businesses and thousands of employees in RTP. This change will make it easier for local businesses to continue to grow and thrive. I was proud to successfully advocate for better service for my constituents.

Advocating for Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is one of my top priorities in Congress. That's why I was excited to attend the grand opening of the King's Ridge affordable housing community after securing $2 million in funding to help support its construction. This new 100-unit complex in Raleigh will provide safe, quality homes and resources for families. King’s Ridge represents a transformative effort to combat homelessness in Wake County, where it has surged over 200% over the past three years. As CASA's largest project to date, this project will expand affordable housing options in our local area.

Investing in Health Care for Our Children

Providing high-quality health care for children is vital. I am excited to see that Duke and UNC Health are taking the steps to create the first standalone children's hospital in North Carolina. This hospital will not only enhance healthcare services and save lives, but also create thousands of jobs and support families across the state. I was excited to join the launch of the NC Children’s Health Campus.
