Dear Friend, From the chaos of the Speaker election to barely averting a government shutdown, there's been a lot happening over the past few weeks in Washington, D.C. But despite the paralysis and dysfunction caused by my conservative colleagues, I haven’t stopped working for you and your family. I've been meeting with constituents, working on bipartisan bills in committees, and introducing important legislation. I want to take a moment to share a brief update on my work in Congress on behalf of the people of Wake County.

News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

From the chaos of the Speaker election to barely averting a government shutdown, there's been a lot happening over the past few weeks in Washington, D.C.

Protecting Pregnant and Parenting Students

In the United States, 22% of undergraduate students are parents, but far too often the challenges of parenting or pregnancy can derail a student's educational path. That's why I introduced a bill with Congresswoman Lucy McBath to support student parents and improve graduation rates. Every student deserves equal access to an education and the opportunities that come with it.

Combatting Antisemitism in NC & beyond

Following a concerning rise in antisemitic threats and demonstrations, I led a letter with Congresswoman Kathy Manning calling for increased federal funding for synagogue security. We've seen an alarming surge in antisemitic threats in North Carolina and across the country after Hamas' brutal terrorist attacks against Israel. Antisemitism has no place in our community.

Supporting a Clean Energy Future

As a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I am committed to investing in clean energy to combat climate change and bolster our economy. It was great to welcome Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to our committee hearing recently and discuss updates on her clean energy initiatives. From supporting North Carolina’s offshore wind energy industry to developing our electric vehicle infrastructure, I will continue working with my colleagues to build a more sustainable future.

Fighting for Survivors of Sexual Assault

We owe it to survivors who have endured unspeakable trauma to ensure they receive the care they deserve and are able to seek justice in court. That's why I spoke in support of the Rape Kit Backlog Progress Act in a House Judiciary Committee hearing. Too many rape kits have sat untested on evidence shelves for far too long — some for decades. This critical legislation will address the 100,000 untested kits and ensure survivors can seek the justice they deserve.
