Dear Friend, Last week, I voted for crucial legislation to fund the government, delivering more than $12.6 million in federal funding for projects across Wake County. These projects will address some of the critical needs of our community -- from public safety to affordable housing to transportation and more. I fought for these community-driven investments because I know they will make a positive difference in the lives of Wake County residents. I want to take a moment to share more about some of these projects.

News from Congresswoman Deborah Ross

Representative First Last

Dear Friend,

Last week, I voted for crucial legislation to fund the government, delivering more than $12.6 million in federal funding for projects across Wake County. These projects will address some of the critical needs of our community -- from public safety to affordable housing to transportation and more. I fought for these community-driven investments because I know they will make a positive difference in the lives of Wake County residents. I want to take a moment to share more about some of these projects.

Fighting for affordable housing

I hear from my constituents every day about the burden of rising housing costs. That's why I fought to secure federal funding for two affordable housing projects in Wake County -- $1 million for CASA’s supportive housing for youth transitioning out of foster care and $1.5 million to revitalize Grosvenor Gardens Apartments, an affordable housing apartment community in downtown Raleigh. I'll keep working in Congress to expand affordable housing options in Wake County and beyond.

Upgrading transportation in the Triangle

As one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, the Triangle needs access to modern, efficient transportation. I'm incredibly proud to have secured $800,000 for GoTriangle Eastern Wake transit access improvements. This funding will help construct 10 new bus stops and connect Eastern Wake to Raleigh and other community destinations in Wendell and Zebulon.

I also secured over $1 million to help replace an aging runway at RDU Airport. This funding will enhance safety, efficiency, and operational reliability while also ensuring continued high-quality service for passengers and airlines as travel increases at the airport.

Increasing public safety efforts

Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to keep our community safe, and we must ensure that they have the resources they need to protect us. That’s why I secured funding for four different public safety projects across Wake County -- $629,000 for the Raleigh Police Department Public Safety Intelligence Management System, $360,000 for the Town of Knightdale Police Department cruiser replacements and upgrades, $182,000 for the Town of Apex Police Department Modular Vehicle Barrier System, and $120,000 for the Town of Morrisville to invest in body-worn cameras and in-car systems upgrades.

Investing in our community

I'm also excited to announce that nearly $2 million will be invested in community enhancement projects across Wake County. These projects include $325,000 to develop a new library in Rolesville, $1 million to help construct the new Alexander Jones Wright YMCA Youth Center in Raleigh, $406,000 to transform the historic Main Street into a vibrant town center in Rolesville, and so much more. As our region continues to see strong economic development, I am committed to ensuring that Wake County remains one of the best places in America to live, work, and play.

$12.6 million headed to Wake County

These projects were developed by the people of Wake County, for the people of Wake County. I'm grateful that President Biden signed these projects into law, sending millions of federal dollars back to our community. You can learn more about all 15 projects here.
