Applications for Summer Term ( Term 2, May - August) will be due on March 31. Applications for Fall Term( Term 3, September - December) will be due on June 30. Washington, DCIn the Washington, DC office, internships run through three terms: January-April, May-August, and September-December. This is a paid internship in which students gain invaluable work experience. Students are expected to work in the office five days a week, generally running 9:00AM to 6:00PM when Congress is in session, and 9:00AM to 5:00PM when not in session. In Washington, interns’ responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, complete projects, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, lead U.S. Capitol tours, answer constituent letters on various issues before the House, and complete any other tasks requested by staff. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. DistrictIn the District office in Raleigh, NC, internships run through three terms: January - April , May - August, September - December. This is a paid internship in which students gain invaluable work experience. Students are expected to work in the office a minimum of fifteen hours a week, generally between the hours of 9:00AM to 5:30PM . DO Interns may participate in after hours and weekend work events as opportunities arise. Interns may be asked to answer phones, draft constituent responses, assist with constituent casework and complete any other tasks requested by staff. As a result, interns will have a greater understanding of North Carolina District 2 and its many communities and organizations. .
